Hilary Clinton is running in the American Presidential election in 2016.

Clinton is seeking the presidency for a second time and has been established as the likely 2016 Democratic nominee, by Obama and other Democrats.

“I’m running for president,” she said with a smile in an online video.

“Everyday Americans need a champion. And I want to be that champion,” Clinton said.

“So I’m hitting the road to earn your vote — because it’s your time. And I hope you’ll join me on this journey.”

Clinton’s 2016 campaign has followed an extraordinary life as a public figure in American politics, since her husband, former President Bill Clinton, ran for president in 1991.

Clinton was the only first lady ever elected to the United States Senate and has travelled the world serving under President Obama's administration.

Clinton has a strong support base of women and is a strong advocate for equal pay in America.

But Clinton has also supported woman globally, putting them at the forefront of America's political agenda and has fought for feminism her entire career.

Twenty years ago, while still First Lady, Hillary Clinton made a ground-breaking speech in Beijing setting down a challenge to world leaders: to treat women's rights as human rights.

A recent BBC documentary argued that since then, a new generation of women, have risen to some of the top jobs in global politics (BBC)

When announcing her presidential campaign Clinton said about her feminism: “Being the first woman to run for president with a real chance of winning, that’s a wild card, but potentially a net positive, particularly for undecided women,”
